"A man seeks employment on a farm. He hands his letter of recommendation to his new employer. It reads simply, 'He sleeps in a storm.'I am able to "sleep in a storm" when I know WHAT is important in my life, AND my daily actions are in harmony with what is important.
"The owner is desperate for help, so he hires the man.
"Several weeks pass, and suddenly, in the middle of the night, a powerful storm rips through the valley.
"Awakened by the swirling rain and howling wind, the owner leaps out of bed. He calls for his new hired hand, but the man is sleeping soundly.
"So he dashes off to the barn. He sees, to his amazement, that the animals are secure with plenty of feed."He runs out to the field. He sees the bales of wheat have been bound and are wrapped in tarpaulins.
"He races to the silo. The doors are latched, and the grain is dry.
"And then he understands. 'He sleeps in a storm.'"

"He Sleeps in the Storm"
I am doing a Time and Life Management workshop next week out at Nike. I asked the participants to send me a list of the their struggles and concerns. I believe their answers (and the solution) can be summarized by the following story I read recently in Mitch Albom's book: "Have a Little Faith."

Inspiring!! All his books get me right in the heart as does your guidance John!
ReplyDeleteJohn is a down to earth, honest, ethical and hard working man who has what it takes to not only teach but "walk the talk." I for one am inspired by this man and his personal walk in life and that is exactly what I am looking at when I decide to embrace something new. The question I ask myself is "Does this person possess the results that I am desiring to create in my own life?" If so, than they are someone worth listening to in my book. John absolutely has the "right stuff." I for one applaud his efforts and congratulate him. Good for you John. I wish you all the very best. Laurie
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this great story, John. It's a pearl of wisdom that is timely and yet well-established. Thank you again for the outstanding workshop you facilitated for our organization last year!
